I'm using a company PC and have chosen Windows mail to download private
messages (gmail) in it. However, I do not want to keep the messages storaged
on the HD of this PC.
How can I move it to my external HD? On microsoft outlook, for example, I
have some PST files on the external HD, so all messages are directed to it.
nothing remains at the PC HD.

Thanks!!

Windows Mail doesn't use a single file, like the .pst. It stores messages
in individual .eml files.

However, you can change the message location in windows Mail.
Tools - Options - Advanced - Maintenance - Store folder
select the external HD, and create a folder on it...
When you shut down WM, it will move the files.

thanks a lot Dave. It's working...

If you disconnect the drive, it will revert to the default directory. If
you just want to copy the messages, don't set the store directory to the
other drive.

just realized it. Can it be avoided? I have "lost" all folders that I have
creates. Can I recovery it?
Also, I have noted all messages are on my Inbox and remain storaged on the
external HD. Are they duplicated? Can I delete all msgs in the Inbox?

thanks

You can drag the eml files from Explorer and drop them on top of the message
list of a WinMail folder to incorporate them into that folder. You can also
try File | Import | Messages and point to the directory on the external
drive.

To prevent it from happening again, don't open WinMail when the drive is
disconnected.
