I have been reading all these messages, and I am so confused!! My life is in
WinMail and I can't get it to open. I am getting that crazy junk mail and
msoe.dll that everyone is complaining about and I'm freaking out!! Dell told
me that I would need to backup my whole computer and restore my computer to
factory configuration. I would prefer not to do this, as I'm not sure how.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Gary,

Thanks for the response, how do I transfer over all my old emails to windows
live?

Gary,

Are you telling me that I can never use Window's Mail again? I have
uploaded Windows Live Mail and I do not like it. Is there anything I can do
to get WinMail back again?

I have deleted out all anti-virus software, like you have previous said to
others to help the issue. But it did not work on mine.

Dell is telling me that they might be able to resolve the issue, but I would
need to pay almost $200 for them to repair it. I think that is crazy since
they are the ones that had Norton and McAfee on my computer when I bought it
from them. Should I use them, or will they just do the Windows Live Mail too?

Let me know your thoughts.

Steve,

You just saved my life!!! You are the MAN!! Thank you soooo much!

I used the zip files for the repair Win Mail and it found corrupt info on
there and then fixed it. I am soooooo sooooo Happy!!

Now I can open my WinMail and see all my old folders and emails. But the
problem that I am having is that when I send/receive I am getting the
following message.

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'ponyexpress.rural-link.net (1)',
Server: 'ponyexpress.rural-link.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Error Number: 0x800C013E

When my WinMail was down I switched to Windows Live Mail to get my emails.
I sinced uninstalled Windows Live Mail, but I cannot send/receive my emails
through my WinMail.

Can you help me???

As I said, Windows Live Mail will automatically import all your Windows Mail stuff.

Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail (WLM) will run side-by-side, which is
how I use them. If you don't like WLM, just uninstall it from the Control Panel,
Programs and Features.

"Unknown error" is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled
and replaced with a more compatible one.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Remove your mail accounts (Tools | Accounts) and then close and reopen
WinMail and then add them back again. Also go to Control Panel | Default
Programs and make sure WinMail is now default as WLM seems to screw things
up.

I have done this and I am still not able to receive. I can send out. Not
sure why this is happening. I think my computer is in major melt down mode.
I've only had it 7 months, any clues?

Didn't you say you've used Windows Live Mail successfully before?
Why didn't you stay with it? Windows Mail is often very sensitive to
interference from third party security programs (antivirus, etc.).
