I have a problem that is really more of a nuisance, but I can't seem to fix
it. I used to have an issue with the WM crahing, and the last time it did
this, it changed something, so every time I open an email, it comes up in a
box about 2" by 2" and I have to maximize it before I can read it. Any
thoughts?

Don't maximize it. Stretch it to a size you like and close it that way.
