Windows Mail Export Messages

It should go where you told it to go to.
The export wizard won't let you proceed until you select a destination folder.
 
If you export to Microsoft Exchange format, it creates an Outlook.pst file
located in
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\

If you export to Windows Mail format, you have to tell it where to save (to
an empty folder).

But only if you have Outlook installed AFAIK....
 
So amazing!

I have the same question and have gone through all the replies but none of
them provide a correct outcome.

What's really amazing is that the export wizard does not tell you where the
output's going (never mind asking).

If you choose the Exchange and then Outlook option, the export function will
export all WM messages directly into the existing Outlook Profile.
If you don't have Outlook installed on that machine, then the export, just
like it did in OE, will do nothing.
Not sure about the WM option....
 
This is not as mysterious as it sounds.
The only time the Export wizard does not ask for the destination is when
you choose the Microsoft Exchange format. It will put the output .PST file
in a location where Outlook knows to look.
 
I'm struggling to export my messages from Windows Mail to Outlook 2003 (which
is installed and running on my computer).

When I export to Microsoft Exchange format, the outlook.pst file is created
in C:\User\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\..., not under "roaming"
as described below. If I try to import this file into Outlook I get an error
message "The source and destination folders for this operation cannot be the
same".

I've tried exporting to Windows Mail format, but then I can't figure out how
to import this into Outlook.

Please help!!!
 
I also tried to export my messages from vista mail to outlook 2003 but it
doesn't seem to work, I have tried the recommendations suggested in the
posts... with no success... even tried importing them in outlook but i still
don't see my messages
 
This is very confusing, I've never had so many problems with my hotmail
inbox before. Now is gone and none of the suggestions by experts seem to
work or reverse the problem.
I will travel to Germany very soon and I will be completely lost without my
hotmail inbox !!! Amazing !!! Maybe is time to switch to APPLE.
