with Windows Mail.

In some cases, mail clients will not remember passwords that are rejected,
only valid ones.

So, if your mail server is having authentication issues, it may very well
reject your password for a while, and your email client will come back
asking you for the correct password.

This isn't an uncommon problem for some mail systems, but it has little or
nothing to do with your mail settings or your Windows Mail installation.
It's a problem that has to be fixed by the ISP's mail server maintenance
staff.

As this is a different problem to the OP, please make a NEW post, and don't
hijack other people's threads.

This usually means you need to download and install this hotfix, with
Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Ceratin common
antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee,
tend to cause this and other problems in Windows Mail, although
seldom immediately, so if you have such a program, remember
where to find the hotfix and hope it will install again if you need it
again. A recent version of the Trend antivirus program also causes
assorted problems in Windows Mail.
