How can I change settings on my computer running XP Home
to stop logging me out and making me sign in after 5 or 10
minutes of inactivity? I have been unsuccessful changing
this in the users folder, in admin tools, and APM. Any
help will be appreciated. I am using a Compaq 1516US
laptop.

Right click desktop, properties, screen saver tab, uncheck: on resume
password protect or on resume display the welcome screen(reads different
depending on your setup).

Hey Rich,

Go into your Control Panel, click on the Display
Properties, go to the Screen Saver tab, and click the
checkbox that says "On resume require password". If that
isn't checked, go to the Administrative Tools and click
Local Security Policy. Go into the Account Policies and
find where it says "Log off user after 15 minutes of
inactivity". This may be in the other sections of it.
Sorry I can't give you a direct answer but my privledges
on this computer I am at are limited so I can't access
the Administrative Tools here. If you have any more
questions, let me know.

Hi Rich,

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Screen Saver tab, look at the options
for your Screen saver and also Uncheck the "On resume, password protect"
option.

Also in the Monitor Power settings using the Power button. Look on the
Advanced tab, and the Options section, uncheck the "Prompt for password when
computer resumes from standby" option.
