I am running windows xp pro and my computer works fine but
my computer will just lock up at what seems like random
intervals. It does it mainly when my computer has sat
idle for a long time. Here is the error message I find in
event viewer:

initialization failed because the driver device could not
be created.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

it has this error listed about 8 times. My computers
stats are

soundblaster live

I have tried updating all of my drivers and getting
windows updates.

Random lockups are usually caused by faulty hardware. Check for
overheating (run with the case open, observing all fans). Then start
hardware diagnosis with a RAM test and go on from there.

I have checked my cpu temp when it locks up and it is in
the low 100s. I have tried checking the ram. I did find
that my usb mouse went bad and started causing some
problems. That was before this problem started. I am
going to try disabling usb in my bios and see if that does
it.
