I have not down loaded any new software and but the children have used it and
now all the fonts & windows is big and bulky

Control Panel>Display>Settings> use the slider bar to change the
resolution to the one supported by your monitor. If you have a 17" CRT,
it is probably 1024x768. If you have an LCD, refer to the monitor
manual.

has your screen resolution been changed?
right click your desktop > properties
settings tab > screen resolution
(the smaller the numbers 800x600 the bigger the windows)
