Windows Installer Screw Up

I bought an HP 2110 printer. I installed it on my
computer. Something went wrong with it. I took it back. I
bought a new HP 1210 printer. This time, when I went to
install this printer, it said I had to unstall the
previous printer. I went to add/Remove Programs to remove
it, but when I did it said "The Windows Installer Service
could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running
windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not
correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for
assistance." I have no clue what the problem is because
I'm not running in safe mode, nor is it improperly
installed. Please help!!
