I have been using AccessXP and the rest of Office 2003. After updating to
Access 2003 when starting Access I receive a message, "Please wait while
Windows configures Microsoft Office 2003". I have read that this may have
something to do with the MRU list or SP2 for office. However, I have created
a new shortcut and still receive the message. This does not happen with any
of the other office applications. Is there a registry key that can be
changed? I have tried to read all I can on the subject but, at this point
none of the articles seem to have helped. Please let me know if anyone has a
solution.

Hi Barry,

I have been having the same issue. I can find no fix on the internet but
have found that this seems to be brought on by installing Office 2003 SP2.
The only way I've been able to get rid of it is to uninstall office,
re-install and then don't install SP2.

Check the kb article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/265194/en-us
If your not comfortable with editing the registry there is a reinstall
option. Remember a mistake in the registry can make your PC unable to
boot.

Barry,

In my network, removing and re-installing office on every workstation wasn't
going to happened due to time constraints and the total amount of
workstations involved. I happen to find a fix that I've not seen listed
anywhere on the internet. I noticed that on the KB about SP2, they listed the
files that were replaced, all of them being the executable files,
msaccess.exe was now version 11.0.6566.0. Luckily, I have never installed
SP2 on my Citrix servers and so I still had a copy of the old exe file
(version 11.0.6355.0). I replaced that file on my workstation and I am no
longer receiving the installer message when I run Access. Problem solved...
You could just do one of your workstations and then run a script at logon to
copy the old exe to your other workstations at startup.

Thanks - Although the article is specific to Office 2000, I will check and
take the appropriate measures for Office 2003. Your help is greatly
appreciated.

Tony:
Thanks for the input. I have not had the opportunity to try your fix as of
this time but I do appreciate someone finally addressing the issue.
