Windows installer pain

Hi,

I was installing my some software that came with my Canon digital
camera on a new install of Windows XP Pro tonight and the computer
rebooted right in the middle of the installation, thanks to me playing
around with WCPUID (which I will never do again, I assure you).

What's happened is that an integral portion of the software for the
camera does not work. However, I cannot uninstall it through the
Add/Remove progams tool (it claims that the software is not on my
computer), and the CD I installed it from will not re-install it
(claiming that the software is already installed.

I tried hand-cleaning the registry, but that hasn't solved the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to work? I'd really
like to be able to use my camera with the computer, and I'm a little
burned that I screwed up my windows install within 2 hours of the first
boot.

Assuming that it's an .msi package (Windows Installer), try running the
Windows Installer Cleanup utility and remove the installer information for
the camera software. Then reboot once and reinstall the software again.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:
