Windows Installer opens when common items are used

I have recently installed Windows XP Home edition. Now each time I try to access different parts of the OS (MSIE, WINDOWS EXPLORER, SEARCH, HELP,etc. etc.) the windows installer opens. This is the first time after I have installed that I have ran these programs. On 3rd party software it does not open, Does anyone know why this is opening and what I should do to stop it?
 
You could try the following:-

To unregister and re-register Windows Installer:
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type in the Open box: msiexec /unregister and then click OK.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type in the Open box: msiexec /regserver click OK.
Type commands exactly, including the space between c and /.
This will not affect programs which use Windows Installer that are already
installed.
 
I have tried unregistering and registering windows installer and this does not change the problem. I am only using one user on the system for now (I don't like logging in)... When I let Windows Installer continue it says it can't find the file 2004_1_Pub.msp. I searched here for that file name and couldn't find it. Does anyone know what this system is trying to install? It only happens when I am using xp functions like explorer, msie, search, etc etc

Is it possible to create another user account and ditch the original one? I only want to have one user account on this system so we don't have to logon and off
