I had three programs that when i clicked on their
shortcuts Windows Installer opened and tries to install
MS Office 2000 Pro, I have deleted two of the offending
programs BUT the one i have kept I really need as it has
so much data i have collected over the years. I must add
that after a lot of clicking the CANCEL in Win Installer
several times the program i want opens up. Do I have a
worm/virus? Is there a fix?

Cheers
Allan

Hi Allan;
I find that problem on occasion and it appears to be caused by the Windows
installer. I have found that if I go to the actual EXE file for the
application, and create a new shortcut, that it resolves the issue. You can
give that a try and post back with the results.

Allan:

I have had that same problem:
1) Let it run. It will prompt for your CD disc, and copy a .dat file to
your hard disk.

2) On one computer, I had to delete/recreate the user profile to stop it.
