Windows Installer Corrupted

I've been trying to find some information on a subject that recently has been
troubling. When i try to uninstall or install any program from my XP Pro SP2
machine under administration it will always give me an error saying windows
installer is corrupt and can;t continue. I can;t even downlaod the microsoft
updates. How can i get this working again.

Both links didn't provide me with any luck. would it be possible to jsut
downlaod the installer by itself. Would you known were i could get the
installed for Win XP Pro SP2?

Running the 'Repair an existing install' in XP setup is the only way I know
to get the installer.

i just isntalled the Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable

however when i want to install/un install software i get an Windows

What error? Same error or a different one?

Try this fix (it's a small download file), it fixed my problem, even though
I was not getting an Error 1704, the error message was similar.
