My problem is that after every restart of Windows XP, I am welcomed by
a screen that wants to improve my visual experience by adjusting the
screen resolution. After that it behaves like a new installation that
wants to register and activate Windows. The drivers are magically wiped
from the previous installation. This happens even after I have installed
all of the chipset drivers, and registered as well as activated
Windows. It's almost as if its stuck in a loop.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you had tried completing the visual experiance and its still not gone away then i would start at look in your msconfig startup list to see if there is anything there that dont need to be, i couldn't tell you the file that the visual experiance runs from but if you have dabbled into msconfig before then have a look throught the start up list and type in each entry into a seacrh engine to see what they are and just untick then one thats the viusal experiance (if there is one there)

If you havent really been into msconfig before then i would advice you get some one around that can guide you or do it for you has you can do some damage.

other then that ether format and reinstall or see if microsoft can help ... lol

It sounds almost as if its not activating, as if it activated and you then
needed to reactivate, in such a short space of time then the online
activation should have failed, and you would have had to use phone
activation.
