Windows indexing service

1. Go to Start > Run and type: SERVICES.MSC , and hit enter.
2. Scroll down to "Indexing Service".
3. Right-click on this service and select "Stop"

You can access it as directed by the prior post, but select "disabled" where
it states "manual." If you merely select "stop," it will start again at the
next boot up.

In the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove
Windows Components and uncheck Indexing Service. This will disable and stop
the indexing service.
 
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I am now sorted. Wow what a helpful
service this is.
