Image Size Question: When a digital camcorder is
connected via 1394 cable, WIA identifies camera as a AVC
Compatible DV Camcorder and shows a live video feed of
the camera. What controls the size of the image when I
catpure a picture from the live video feed? I am getting
360x240 size and am wanting 640x480. Is it a camera
limitation or simply a current industry standard?
-Camera tested: Canon Elura 50

It's a limitation of WIA on XP. Other software can render higher resolution
stills. The WIA UI just provides basic functionality.

As an alternative, have you tried MovieMaker 2? It *might* be capable
of doing what you want. You might check the postings in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.moviemaker.

The WIA API doesn't do anything to expose still capture on video cameras.
The WIA driver for video cameras simply exposes the captured images for
download from the temporary holding folder. The UI for still capture is just
using a simple DirectShow filter.
