I am trying to share a series of folders between 4
computers and a central computer that is running XP
Home. I have just added the 4th workstation and am now
getting an error message about the number of computers
that are connecting to the shared folders. I am not sure
if the problem is just the number of computers or the
number of folders that are being connected to all the
computers. Can anyone tell me how to modify the shared
folder limit? I would assume that I will have to do so
inside the regestry but am not sure. Any help would be
much appreciated.

Jason, sorry to tell you, but XP home has a 5 user concurrent connection limitation. XP Prof and W2K prof have a 10 limit, and Server of any flavor has unlimited. A cheap way to make you buy a product, IMHO!

I understand that but I only have 5 computers in the
entire network including the server. Even if MS counts
the server as one of the computers I should still be
within the limit of machines supported by XP Home

Do you know how to go to Computer Management (if Home has that, can't remember)? There is a section on shared folders, sessions and files open. That should show you who, what, how is connected to the share(s). You will probably find 5 or more. Check it out. If no Comp Mgmt, then do an MMC (if XP Home has that) with Shared Folders snap-in. As far as I know, there is NO reg hack to alter this built-in default limit on shares!
