I keep getting this message on occasion & the way to get my computer back is
to Boot it.
The messageis:A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to
prevent damage to your computer.
Whats happening & why do I get this.
I just recently had a new hard drive put in & I'm not sure if this is
related to this.Any ideas on what I should do.Thanks.

Hi Alice,

Start/run eventvwr.msc to check the system logs for clues.

Or

Control Panel/system/advanced tab/startup and recovery settings, uncheck the
entry to automatically restart on system failure. This should produce an
error message (blue screen) next time it happens. Post back with the text of
the error.

See if there is anything relevant in the event log(s) .. my computer,
(r-click) manage, event logs - look at the contents. Cut & paste any
interesting entries relating to the failure(s) and post them here.

If it didn't happen before you put the new hard drive in, then maybe
some hardware got disturbed, or maybe the new drive is pushing the
limits on your power supply (PSU), or maybe the new drive has an actual
problem .. if you're not into hardware debugging, I'd get whoever put
the HDD in to carry out some basic hardware checks.

Take the computer back to the place who put your new hard drive in and
have them fix it.
