I love when Microsoft thoroughly tests something, they
may have cost me the data for my business!!

My problem is after install of service pack 2 on my
computer it will not boot past initial windows screen
Error "Systemroot/Registry/System32/Config/Secutity"
registry file is corrupted windows is rebooting.

There is a brief step by step process to restore these
files for regular hard drives but I am using a SATA drive
connected through my RAID. If I run windows restore
booting to the CD it does not recognize the drive.

Any comments on how to fix this nightmare?
I have alot of business data on this drive I need to
recover soon!!

Terry;
How to use the Automatic Recovery feature to recover your computer if
the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup program is not completed
successfully:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=875355

Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select "Last known good configuration" at the menu.
If that fails, reboot tapping F8 again this time choosing Safe Mode.
Then System Restore to Date/Time before issue started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

Otherwise perform a Repair Installation:

When you are ready for SP-2, follow the Service Pack Installation
Checklist:

Thank you for the reply...unfortunetely my problem still
exists. I am using a SATA HD through my RAID as my primary
HD and it boots to this hard drive hangs on the welcome
screen then reboots. However, if i boot to CD and try to
use the automated recovery it does not recognize the HD
because it is hooked through the RAID.
Some good news is that I have managed to find an old ATA
HD and load windows onto it. This gave me access to the
drive using RAID and my files. My next question is , since
i have access to the drive am i able to fix the corrupted
files and again use the SATA HD as primary without
formatting and reloading.

Thanks in advance for any responses

Sounds like your Motherboard Drivers need to be updated.
Heard that some Sata drivers have problems with SP2.
Forgot which brand of Motherboard thou.
Try
ASUS ABIT MSI
If you can't find your brand. It should show in Hardware List.
