There is no way to turn on the Windows firewall. On the Control Panel |
Windows Firewall General tab all options [On (recommended); Don't allow...;
Off] are disabled. However, the Advanced tab tells that firewall is enabled
for my connections. Checking in the command promt with the 'netsh firewall
show state' command results 'disabled. Whats wrong?

Do you have a third-party firewall installed or an antivirus/Internet
security program? Examples are ZoneAlarm, Norton AV 2005/06, Norton
Internet Security, McAfee, etc.

It sounds like a third-party program is protecting you. Open the
Security Center applet in Control Panel and click on the double-arrow
button in the Firewall section to see.
