windows firewall icon and windows update

should i have a windows firewall icon in control panel, also should i turn on
windows update since i don't have service pack 2 installed on my computer? I
am still unsure as to whether i should install service pack 2.
 
You get a firewall icon and a security center icon in the control panel after
you install Service Pack 2.

Yes you should install Service Pack 2, it fixes many vulnerabilities and
offers many new security features.
