i have a recent toshiba laptop with service pack 2 preinstalled, however i am
unable to enable the fax service, when it asks for the missing files its as
if it can't access them, they are on the hard disk and I also tried to copy
them from an windows xp cd.
I did a search on the net and there are a few people on the internet with
the same problem, but nobody seems to have a solution. can anyone help
please???

Use Add Remove Programs, Window Components to install Fax. It's listed as
"Fax Services." It will automatically get the files from the XP cd. Look up
Fax in Windows Help for complete directions. You have to have a telephone
modem installed in your computer and hook it up to your phone line to fax.

Hopefully you got this sorted by now - but if not try this, as i ha
the same problem with a Toshiba Tecra

Goto Start - Run

Copy/Paste this - esentutl /
%windir%\security\database\secedit.sd

Click okay and repair the database

Then try to install the Fax through the usual add/remove window
components window

No guarantees here but it worked for me
