Windows Fax Viewer?

I am trying to use Windows XP Fax facilities, but cannot view the faxes.
..TIF files are associated with a program that cannot handle the fax format
(in this case MGI Photoviewer), and I cannot find TIF files associated with
anything in File Associations. I have tried to create a new association for
TIF files, but cannot find Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as an option for a
program to associate the file with!

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I get Fax Viewer to view faxes?

Try right clicking on the fax and see if you can select an alternative
program to view it. The fax viewer and picture viewer in Windows are
slightly different programs in how they are integrated with the OS. Right
clicking should bring up the ability to use the program since I suspect
something has stolen the "TIF" association.

Only option given with right-click that is relevant is 'View' - but then
this option brings up the message "your operating system does not have a
program associated for Fax (.tif) files". So, back to square one! How do I
associate Windows Picture and Fax Viewer with TIF files?

Hold the shift key while you right click.
