Running XP Home. I recall that there is a way to have Windows Explorer to
start up somewhere else besides "my Documents", like the "C" drive, or
Program files. I can't find a document that shows me how.

Start explorer from a shortcut with the follwing target:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, c:\

If c:\ is not where you want it to start, change that to whatever folder you
want.
