The search function is not working in Windows Explorer. The little dog just
sits and looks at me - no dialogue box opens. What is the fix? Thanks for
your input!

I think this is what you are talking about

Make sure the value of
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoFind
is 00 00 00 00 and not 01 00 00 00. did you use tweakui to remove search
from the start bar. If you did my understanding is that it can potentially
disable Search in explorer. If you did use tweak UI then this is most likely
the fix you want.

See, that's the problem - I dont' even have that registry key - "no find" is
not listed under policies - explorer. I didn't do anything to remove search
- it just stopped working! Thanks for your help.
