I tried a re install of XP Pro and it didnt help...

This has something to do with Proxy srver as I am getting
a message called " end program proxy desktop" when I try
and restart or should down. If I do not open explorer
during a session I dont get the message , If I do open
explorer I get the message and can only open it once.
Someoene must have also got this .

A proxy server sits between you and your ISP. Did you install a proxy
server? Many pop-up blockers act as proxy servers, as do some other
email utilities. Satellite ISP's use a proxy server, and there are
other instances where one might be used. If you didn't install one
yourself or previously have one set up, then what does a scan with your
current av (using updated defs) show? I'd also scan with Spybot S&D
and/or Ad-aware to remove spyware. Use msconfig and see what's starting
up; use the task manager to see what's running. I'm assuming that when
you said you reinstalled XP you did a Repair install as opposed to a
clean install with a disk format. Post back with more details about
your system and what you've done for more help.
