All of a sudden the title on my Windows XP Explorer window (NOT IE) is reading "C:\ Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by America Online". Wherever I navigate the folder title may change but the program title is still called "Internet Explorer from AOL", not Windows Explorer. IE is not running. AOL is not my default browser, although it is installed.

Is AOL taking over everything? I can't find a way to change the properties of Windows Explorer to show the correct title - is that a registry setting which can be corrected

Thanks for any help.

Hi Ann,

Isn't that nice of them?

Start/run regedit, navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

In the right pane. look for a string that reads Window Title, double click
it to change the name. Deleting this string will remove any branding and
leave you with just "Microsoft Internet Explorer".

Close regedit and open new IE window, the change should be immediate.
