Forgive me for discussing another companies software, but
i have had some unpleasant things happening lately.
Lately I have been having "explorer.exe has encountered a
problem and needs to close" when I am navigating in and
out of windows explorer, also sometimes on a right click
while in windows explorer.
(1)I know there is a fix for this but I need to know if
it was a part of a previous windows fix/ update that i
already might have (Q329692)
(2)None of my system restore points seem to be working. I
have not made any serious changes to my registry. I have
suficient space allocated.
(3) Disc check and SFC scan came back negative

Question: NAV 2004 Professional contains the Norton
Protected Recycle bin and unerase protection service
contained on Norton System works (utilities). Could the
Norton protected file system interfere with windows
explorer and system restore? I know some gateway
computers have had a problem with some of the Norton
Utilities programs. I would ask norton but their customer
service has seriously deteriorated in recent years.

May I also suggest that Norton Customer Service - competency and customer relations are not within a bulls roar of even a year ago. The comapny has gone downhill big time.

I found recently that a newly built PC had issues with Norton software.

After all other apps and hardware were configured I installed Norton IS 2004 at the clients wishes. Because of a HP multifunction printer, Norton's installation paused and then failed [hpoevm08.exe and hpobnz08.exe had to be stopped using Task Manager].

Norton were not able to give any advice on this..it took me hours of trial and error.

It resulted in system restore being disfuntional and internet explorer having issues [part of Recycle Protection and Go-Back I'd suggest].

I have now moved off Norton's BIG TIME.

Microsoft sent me the Windows Update CD and it had the CA Firewall and AntiVirus package -free for 12 months. So far I'm very satisfied with this after using Norton's for over 15 years!

It's a buyer's world and we the users cannot suffer from lack of support or we can move to another supplier in a heartbeat - about the lenght of time it should take for a phone call to customer support to be answered by a real person - take that onboard Norton's.

Order the Windows Security Update CD online:
