My windows exlplorer stops responding evertime I right
click to rename or similar activity.
I have updated Windows Xp to SP1a.
I have changed my display option to minimize my cpu usage
on such commands.
Nothing works.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Be sure your PC has at least 256 MB of good non-faulty
RAM memory installed. If not, add more memory, and run a
diagnostic test on your RAM as it can become faulty. Check
the cooling fans so as to rule out over heating. Then run
the maintenance, disk cleanup and the disk defragmenter
tools weekly. Scan for viruses also. Run the system file
checker tool, click start, run, type in; sfc /scannow with
that space after the sfc. Open the control panel, then
administrative tools, Event Viewer, to check for error and
warning messages. (Click to select either applications or
system on the left side, then double click on one of the
messages on the right side to see details.)

I did everything you suggested and nothing helped.
Now what?
I hope I don't have to rebuild my system.
HELP!

Hi,
I had the same problem, but only after installing the 821557 critical
update. If you've done the same I suggest using system restore to restore to
a point before that install. It worked for me.

Good luck
Scot
