I find that when I click on a file from windows explorer to open a file (any
type of file) it takes ages to open. I can sometimes wait up to 2 minutes.
If I go to the application first (ie word etc) and open the file - it opens
straight away.

I'm using Windows XP - latest patches 2.4GHz PC with 1GB memory.

Any ideas?

Try uninstalling the latest Windows Update KB828028 (go
to Add and Remove Programs in the Control Panel), reboot,
and then see if you still have the problem.

I'm afraid, it's been slow before this patch!

I have the same problem on a XP pro PC connected to a domain network. Have you found a solution to this problem yet? I ahve trawled the net for answers but found nothing useful yet
