windows explorer search falis

Every time I try to use the search function (for files and folders) in Windows Explorer I get the message that the programme has encountered an error and will have to close with the following details

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1221 ModName: msvcrt.dl
ModVer: 7.0.2600.1106 Offset: 00032ac

I have tried system restore and checked for viruses (McAfee), but unable to resolve the problem. Help!

Hi,

That particular dll can be installed by many third party programs, thus
causing these issues. Unfortunately you can't run Search to pull all
versions up and rename them. What I would suggest is verifying that you
have the correct XP version in dllcache and the System32 folder. Start with
your Service Pack folder and here:
