Windows Explorer resets itself. Why?

When I use Windows Explorer (or my pictures) to look for something on the computer, it suddenly resets and goes back to the main screen. For example, i will go into a folder and it will seem as if everything is working just fine, when suddenly the screen will "flash" and the entire Windows Explorer will be closed and the screen will be back to the desktop. There is no set time that this will take to happen. Sometimes it happens within a few seconds, other times it can be minutes. I have run Norton Antivirus and it says my computer is clean. It has been doing this for months and only recently became a big problem because now it is closing my Adobe Premier Pro program and I can't do any work. Any ideas why this happens or how to fix it?

Have you checked out your video card? It could be causing this problem. To
rule out worms and other nasty software, run Ad-aware, Spybot Search and
Destroy and Pest Patrol. I would also run HiJack This! just in case.
