Currently using windows xp

When i go into my documents and select the c drive , or
any other options i receive a windows explorer pop up box
saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close .
Ive sent the error report to microsoft but have received
no answer . I am unable to retrieve any files on my hard

Try using the Repair options in TweakUI for XP.

TweakUI for XP (Powertoys) - http://tinyurl.com/73pj

Or try running the System File Checker by entering sfc in
the Start => Run box.

Windows Explorer has the file name explorer.exe. If the
SFC says its corrupt, replace it by using the SFC itself.
It will get the file from the Windows CD.

Don't use the SFC to change files willy-nilly. Read this
first:

Otherwise, try using the methods to recover XP provided on
this page:

Start > Run > regedit
Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser
Helper Objects
Make a backup of browser helper objects and start deleting the folders found
in it.. should be folders with strings of numbers..
Test your explorer again.. if it doesn't works.. restore from the backup
