Hey, For the past month, everytime I logon- Windows32 Folder opens automatically. And now today, Nothing opens. My profile is dead, No icons, No Startbar, Nothing but my wallpaper. Only way I can open things is through Ctr+Alt+Del. All the other profiles on my computer seem to be fine except it takes exceptionally longer to log in. And when I look at the processes running in my task manager, it says that Explorer.exe is running at 99% CPU, and all the CPU power is being used. Please help me =(

Using XP-Home btw.

Jaeger, I encountered the same problem today--my profile is dead and when I review Task Manager, explorer.exe is running at 99% CPU Usage. I can use another profile after a significantly longer log in time. I am also using XP-Home. (I did not previously have the windows32 folder opening automatically issue.)

I am extremely interested in your resolution...please help. Thank you.

I haven't been able to find anything to resolve the problem...I've done virus sweeps, system restores....Nothing Works. Anyone have a solution to this problem?

No viruses here either according to McAfee (up to date). I still am able to use my other profiles, however, my concern is that this problem may occur with them too. I tried End Process on explorer.exe and then tried to restart explorer.exe with New Task but it went right back up to almost 100% CPU Usage. I'm hesitant to try some of the registry edits or run the script posted in this Forum recommended in earlier posts with this same issue. I'll post if I figure it out; my computer is new so I sent an email to the manufacturer support site. Please post if you find anything.

Here's what I got from my PC manufacturer's support. I'm not sure if I will do this right away because I am away from home and I don't want to cause additional problems with my computer.

We suggest you perform the System Restore procedure for Windows XP to
resolve the issue.

IMPORTANT: System Restore will restore the Windows Registry and other
settings back to the date and time selected. Saved e-mail
will not be affected, but you will need to reinstall any
hardware or software installed after the date of the restore
point used.

IMPORTANT: You may experience data file loss during the Restore process
on any data files not stored in the "My Documents" folder.
You should backup or copy any data files to the either the
My Documents folder, or removable media (e.g. Floppy, CD-R)
to avoid losing data before performing the restore.

NOTE: If the system will not start Windows in normal mode, the System
Restore feature can be run from inside Safe Mode.

1. Click Start

2. Point to All Programs

3. Point to Accessories

4. Point to System Tools

receive a warning. Click OK to continue.

(Choose a date prior to when you started experiencing this issue)

8. Under 2. On this list..., click the left arrow (<) or right arrow
