Hi....thanks in advance for your help.

I got a problem using WINDOWS EXPLORER. When I open it
everything appears normal. It opens looking at MY
DOCUMENTS. I can look at the folders and files under
every item without a problem except for the "My Computer"
item. When I open "My Computer" the screen momentarily
shows all the drives under "My Computer" (for less than
one second). Then everything goes away. WINDOWS EXPLOYER
goes away. All the icons on the desktop disappear along
with the TASK BAR. And a few seconds later everything
comes back except WINDOWS EXPLORER doesn't.

I can use the MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop to look at
all file with no problem.

I have tried reloading Win XP with no help. I thought if
I got rid of the WINDOWS EXPLORER.EXE file it would be
reloaded OK if I reloaded Win XP again. I tried to
delete the WINDOWS EXPLORER.EXE file from the WINDOWS
directory but for some reason it would not allow me to
delete it. Then I was able to change it's name, but in a
couple of seconds something would make a new WINDOWS
EXPLORER.EXE file.

I even bought a WINDOWS EXPLORER look-alike but it acts
the same as WINDOWS EXPLORER.

I have recently been having the same problem. Did an over
install of xp and still have the same problem. In
microsofts knowledge base they mention the nimda virus
causing this problem. When I download and run the nimda
removal tool, explorer returns an error and closes the
tool. I can not get the tool to complete for nothing. I
have ran other virus removal tools without any problems.
If you come up with any other solutions other than
reformatting, please advise me.N.B- event viewer shows
the exact error code the the knowledgebase showed for the
nida problem. Thanks
