I am unsuccessful when I click on a menu item or icon that should open
windows explorer. When I try to enter windows explorer I am redirected to the
my documents folder instead. Can you advise me as to how I can correct this
problem?

Right click on the icon, select Properties. Under Shortcut tab put:
"%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe" as Target and
"%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%" as Start in. (For XP Home)

Thanks for your help but as a newbie could you explain a bit more as to what
I should expect to input where you indicate "%SystemRoot%" and
"%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%"

Thanks again...

Copy and paste what's between the quotes into the boxes stated. Windows
will interpret the %%.
