I have done a scan of my computer and have rid myself of all infections but
quite frequently if I open up a file using Windows Explorer and shut it down
again the processor is at 100%. I look at Task Manager and Explorer is using
95% of the processor only allowing 5% for other applications.

Any Suggestions????

Try this fix.... go to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler
and delete the "Default" value "{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}"
This should stop explorer chasing its tail... if you
use alot of AVI files remove key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesCLSID{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}
InProcServer32, this will stop Explorer from loading shmedia.dll.

Thanks a lot fella, I've had the problem for weeks now and its been driving
me damn crazy.
I've been looking in web forums for an answer to this and its full of kids
saying daft things
like "ya need to defrag" etc. My frustration has been so bad that Im
seriously considering
changing to Linux. Windows just seems so broken down that if it was a car,
you'd take the bus instead.

Thanks for your help here :)

Kev

What do I do if I haven't got this??

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesCLSID{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}

If you can't find it, it's either been deleted, or you tried to find using
search (which wont find it)...you need to search for it manually....
