Can anyone tell me how to retain the Status Bar at the base of any Windows
Explorer window that you open. It seems by default that this Status Bar is
not checked when you open any Windows Explorer window - but I would like ti
to always be displayed, so that I can see the number of objects in any file
that I am viweing and other information like total size etc.

How can i change this default.

Hi Alan

Enable the Status Bar in Windows Explorer, then go to Tools>Folder Options>View and click on 'Apply to All Folders' - OK your way out and restart WE.
