Windows Explorer: How can I change default 'view' to list instead of icons for the entire drive?

Hi,

I rarely like the large icon view for files since only 12 of the 200 can be seen at once. I just
got a computer with XP on it and it's driving me crazy that every time I go into explorer I have to
change the 'view' from icon to list.

I can't find a default for this anywhere.

help?

Press CTRL while you close the Explorer window after you made this
change.
