After installing the OEM version of XP Professional with service pack 2,
I've noticed that clicking on "Windows Explorer", it on longer takes me
to "Local Disk (C:). Now it takes me to "My Documents". Is there a way
that I can make it take me directly to (C:).

Will Denny gave me some help on this, but it didn't go deep enough and
would not work. He is obviously a helpful person and tried his best to
resolve my problem or possibly I didn't do exactly as he told me to, but
it didn't work.

Can anyone give me step by step directions to resolve my problem?

Go Start => All Programs => Accessories => Windows Explorer.

Right-click on Windows Explorer, click Properties, and enter
%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH% as is in the "Start in" box.

Remember what was there in the first place in case it goes wrong - i.e., you
don't do it properly, which can happen to anyone.

Hi Dave

Right-click on your Windows Explorer desktop icon and choose Properties.

Look in the Target box and change it to read:

%windir%\explorer.exe /e,C:

Click OK and you're done :-)

Hope this helps.

Thanks Eric, but all I could get this to do is take me to the "Owners"
page.

Thanks Again Dave Kerridge

Thanks Nightowl, but all I could get this to do is to take me to the "My
Documents" Page

Thanks again Dave Kerridge

Hi Dave

The setting I told you about does work -- see this Microsoft article:

How To Customize the Windows Explorer Views in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307856&sd=tech

Try a few of the switches and see if you can get your Explorer to
change. If it "sticks" on My Documents whatever you do, post back for
more help.

Good luck :-)

Thanks for the comeback Nightowl, I'll give it a try. I'll let you know
if I get it to work.

Thanks again Dave Kerridge

I don't know what I did wrong before, but this time it worked just fine.
Many thanks.
