Windows Explorer generates error and closes after Internet explorer 6 update

According to the microsoft knowledge base article
319124 , I should remove and restore my old version of
internet explorer, but I need to use internet explorer 6
for its security features for online banking, but there is
not hint on which program is incompatible that is causing
this - what is one to do?
 
Bob uninstall back to the basic version on your system them upgrade to V. 6.0SP1, then load
it again overt the top. If that doesn't do it, try using Outlook; that may run your banking
app.
