Hello, and please excuse my ignorance, I am in no way very knowledgeable when
it comes to PC's, even though I work with them. Please I am going nuts. I
cannot view My Documnets or most other files, I keep getting that pop up
where XP wants to send an error report, then my PC freezes.

By the by if you Start>Run>%userprofile%\My Documents>OK ;then what happens?

I shall also suggest you to go through the following KB Article:-
How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

Thanks, I will read those articles. In the meantime, I tried what you
asked...at first I tried my name, then My Documents, no go, couldn't find it
by that name. Then I tried typing just the file name, and it worked, fast and
without error. I tried several other files besides My Documents, and they all
worked great. Should I just access the files this way? Again thanks for the
prompt response!

Press Win+R keys and in the Run [in the blank area]
Just copy and paste the following:-
'%userprofile%\My Documents' [Without any quotes] and hit the Enter
key.Do you get anything?

I did start-run then copied - paste exactly what you had, minus the quotes,
and the My Documents window appeared, and I was able to access my files.

How do you mean you cannot view your documents? Please explain further. Is the
error report coming up when you open IE?

I don't use IE. When I use WINDOWS EXPLORER to access my files, my computer
freezes and I get that dilogue box prompting me to send an error report,
which I never do. However if I double click on my computer, or use 'run' to
access my files, I have no problem.
