For some reason,(not too long after my last Windows
update), now when I try to open any folder on my desktop
or even "My Computer". I get a Windows explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience" Then it will do its little error
reporting thing and then it will restart itself. Then I
am able to do open the folder. But the next time I try
opening a folder, I get the same procedure. Any ideas on
what is going on here?

Also I recall something else that I did before this
started, which might of been really stupid, but I was
unaware that it could possibly cause problems. I put an
XBox game disc in the drive to see if I could get the
music tracks off the disk. This could be the initial
problem.
I went to the Event viewer and it came up with an
application pop-up before the error occurred and when I
hit the link for Windows help, they said that the
application pop-up was something with drivers not having
privileges. I think I'm just getting more confused. Also
in the event viewer, everytime the actual error occurs,
right after that are a bunch of events, like basically
windows going through a quick startup and then the event
log gets stoppped and restarted. The error on the event
viewer reads "The mrtRate service failed to start due to
the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified. "

Hopefully this gives all you intelligent people a little
more info, so you can possibly provide me with a
solution. Thanks
