I have two systems running Windows XP Home. On one of them, when I open Windows Explorer, the folder list in the left pane displays all items compressed except for "Local Disk C:" under "My Computer", and the right pane displays the contents of C:\. On the other system, the opening display from Windows Explorer has all items in the folder list compressed except for "My Documents", and the right pane displays the contents of "My Documents". I would prefer to have the second system use the same default opening display format as the first. Does anyone know of a registry tweak of option setting that will enable this to happen? Thanks in advance.

Just change to where the shortcut points to.

To open at c:\ with it expaned:
Right click the shortcut, properties. In the shortcut properties, change the target to:
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e,C:\

Thanks. That was easy.

I just wonder, though, why one system defaults one way, and the other another way. Perhaps that's just among the things man was never destined to know...
