Win 98 had a "View As Web Page" item on the View menu. When selected,
the right Explorer pane would show the name & properties of the
selected file to the left of the list of files.
Is there a way to get this in Windows XP?

Close ALL Windows/Internet Explorer windows..

Open Windows Explorer.
View -> Details.

Tools -> Folder Options
General Tab
Show Common Tasks in Folders

View tab
Apply to all Folders

Close Windows Explorer..
Open Windows Explorer...

Now, when you click on a file on the right side, look on the left side. See
the "Details" on the left, Click on the double-down-pointing arrow.. (If it
is pointing up, you don't have to, it's expanded.)

Thanks but that doesn't work for me. What I'm getting instead is a
large tool tip containing all the Details info that appears when I
select a file. Maybe there's a way to get rid of this tool tip (which
obscures the file name) and get the details listed on the left where I
want them. . .?

Steven, did you ever get a satisfactory solution to this post? I just installed
XP and I too don't like the "Show Common Tasks option", which has two problems.
1. It applies to all folders. 2. It shows a lot of useless crap! All I want is
for "My Computer" to look like it did in Win98, graphically showing the disk
space usage. But I don't want to waste 30% of the display area on the rest of
the folders!

Thanks,
gm
