I recently replaced my dvd/cd-rw drive with a new one. When I boot up now, I
get a screen indicating that there is nothing in "Drive 5" and it asks me to
press F1 to continue. Startup continues fine, but the drive does not show up
among the available drives.

Please help. thanks

Sorry. This is a newsgroup dedicated to questions about Access, the
database program in Office Professional. It appears your question may not
be related to these subjects. The Microsoft help system is not all that
clear and may have misdirected you here.

It is best to ask your questions in a newsgroup dedicated to the
subject of your question. You should find people better able to address
your problem there.

Note: It is always best to indicate the name and version of any
program(s) you may be using when asking a question and also indicate the
operating system (like Windows XP or 98) when you ask a question.

The new DVD is exactly the same model as the old DVD?

If not, you may need to go into the BIOS of your computer and do a
AutoDetect so that it recognse and update the details of the new DVD in the
BIOS.

Make sure all the connections to the new DVD drive are surcurely in place.
Check the motherboard end also since since these (IDE?) cables can easily
become loose when you muck around with drives.

BTW, this newsgroups is for Microsoft Access, a database application, and
not general computer access. If you need further help, suggest you re-post
to a newsgroup for hardware or at least for the OS.
