Windows does not remember.....

windows sizes anymore. whenever I open open up my documents, my computer,
control panel, ect, ect... windows does not remember the last
setting...ie..I maximize them but when I reopen that window it is in it's
default size. is there a setting to change this, so windows can remember
windows sizes?

There's a limited number of 'memory slots' that WinXP has - download the
latest tweakUIXP from the ms powertoys site to increase the number, or
use the registry fix at Kelly's website:

It is saved separately at shutdown,. It pays to have the desktop layout
set to 'align to Grid' (r-click in it, Arrange icons by, check the Align
to grid). The layout will only then change if you shut down with an
alteration, or in the event of doing some major change, like adjusting
screen resolution.

In Display - Desktop - Customise - Web there is a check box to 'lock
desktop items', that will prevent you from *making* changes
