Hello!!
I am using windows XP SP2. When I try to run the analysis of the windows
defragmenter the program stops due to an error in a file on the c:\i386
folder.
If I try to replace it (by using a file from my other computer) there is
another file
on the same folder causing trouble. This kept on for many files in this
folder. I've tried replacing about a dozen, but since I do not know when this
is going to stop and how safe what I am doing is, I stopped. I would
appreciate any suggestions to solve the problem!!
I run a dskchk/f just in case but it didn't resolve any issues!
Could maybe a windows restore fix the problem??
Thanks in advance!!

What is the complete error message? The files in that folder are only used
to replace bad files elsewhere.

Perhaps you should use sfc/scannow to fix things. However, what you have
done may require instead a repair installation.

So, the complete error message is:(I am translating from Greek though)
"Scanning was aborted because of error in file: C:\I386\AHRONBD.TT_"
After changing files, I replaced them back with their originals and run
sfc/scannow. I let the sfc routine running and after a while I came back
to look at it and find the sfc routine has closed, so I assumed that it found
no mistakes, or that it corrected some files. Still, defragment will not
work..
Thanks for the reply!
