Is Defender part of the Ultimate OS? It was installed with the OS on my
computer but now I am told its out of date and when I click Update Now it
starts Searching for Definitions and after a short time I get the message
"Security Centre can't update definitions for Windows Defender".

Do I have to pay to get the updates?

Defender is part of the Vista OS (any version). You Do not have to pay
for updates as they are free and usually install through windows
update. Maybe You can try to download the updated definitions
manually, and if that doesnt work, do a google search for your error!

If you type the error number into the microsoft vista website it will give
you instructions on how to fix the update problem. It invoves booting in
safe mode and renaming a file. It is easy to do and it fixes the problem
